| Compensation claim |
An extra ‘statutory share’ that a spouse – or the spouse’s beneficiaries – has subjected to administration as a result of the other spouse’s reduction of the community property, cf. section 21 of the Danish Inheritance Act, section 23 of the Danish Legal Effects of Marriage Act.

| Compensation for pain and suffering |
At 1 July 2002, the compensation for pain and suffering amounts to DKK 135 for each day the injured person is ill. The amount is adjusted every year on 1 January, and at 1 January 2003 the amount was adjusted to DKK 140 for injuries occurring after that date. In special cases, compensation can be granted for pain and suffering even though the injured person is not ill. The compensation cannot exceed DKK 50,000 - at 1 January 2003 DKK 53,500 - cf. the Danish Liability for Damages Act. Previously, different rates applied for compensation for pain and suffering depending on whether the injured person was bedridden or not. This was changed with effect from 1 July 2002.

This can be in the form of a voluntary composition, a compulsory composition or debt rescheduling. Application for a compulsory composition and debt rescheduling must be filed with the Bankruptcy Court.
